Resumen
Management action is a key component in organizational development. The contemporary business context demands specific competencies for the introduction of new technologies in organizations. The objective of this research is to describe managerial action in relation to new technological trends in Peruvian SMEs. A quantitative approach was used at a descriptive level, for which a survey was applied to 915 employees and managers of 183 commercial SMEs in Lima, using a purposive sampling criterion using a Likert scale questionnaire to employees and managers of various SMEs in the commercial sector of Lima, Peru. The results suggest that most of those consulted are unaware of the application of these new technologies, and also describe the managers as having weak competencies in the face of contemporary business needs. The main findings highlight the need for investment in the area, as well as the need for highly trained personnel in the use of these new tools to enhance organizational development, efficiency and competitiveness.
